Here is a bird I never saw growing up in Northern New York! Yeah, an albatross And yes, it has been awhile, and I know I have watched that Art Wolfe DVD so many times, so yeah, looking at this image, I'm going out and a limb here, and say this is a Black-browed albatross, but yeah, I'm no expert even if I sound like I know what I'm talking about! Plus, I just read that yeah, it is the most common albatross down there, so yeah ... I'm sticking with it!

But yeah, I'll leave it up to you, just look at that EYE! I see some BLACK there, just saying!

Whatever, I saw the bird, saw how LOW it was flying above the water, and yeah, "fired away"! I didn't really care which type of albatross it was, I just knew I was "getting closer" to the place I was headed to ... Yeah, Antarctica!

Yeah, that was a pretty good sign I was headed in the right direction!

And look how CLOSE they fly to the water! Het! i was amazed, what can I say? It looked like it was "dipping into" the ocean with every flap of its wings!

Got my attention, and yeah, we all know what happens when THAT happens, don't we?

Yeah! THIS!

Look at that lower wing ...

Enough said!

But yeah, after watching those Art Wolfe DVDs as long as I had, yeah, you could say I enjoyed BOTH my trips down into The Southern Ocean!

Yeah, see, my first trip "down there: was just to Antarctica ... Rookie mistake. But yeah, I was still "working" at that time, so yeah, I went with the "shorter" trip ... Yeah, the second time, once I retired, gave me more time to got to all THREE: The Falkland Islands, South Georgia, and yeah, then Antarctica!

The ideal "Three for One" deal I've ever had! Trust me!

Yeah, once I "found out" about South Georgia Island ... And The Falkland Islands, oh yeah, I knew I had to get down there for that whole experience. And yes, it took awhile, but yeah, I'm glad I did!

Yeah, South Georgia Island is, without a doubt, the WILDEST place I've ever been to, no question! The amount of wildlife on such a "small" island is UNREAL! And yeah, it is RIGHT THERE in front of you ... UP CLOSE!

Very close.

But yeah, that is great, but yeah, just getting "down there" is worth the trip! And yes, you soon know you are "getting closer" once these birds start to appear in your viewfinder!

Good luck with that!

Glad I "finally made" it to all three! Well worth the wait.

What? From my first trip "down there" back in 2011, to that second trip to all three in what? 2017. Yeah, not THAT long after!

But yeah, well worth the wait!

The Southern Ocean.

Loved every second I ever spent "down there"! You know, which is pretty much true for EVERY other place I've ever been to as well, but yeah ... Just DIFFERENT.

Enjoy your "JOURNEY".

You only get one!

Make the BEST of it, no matter when, and where, you find yourself.

And yes! You are right! There are many, many, many more places out there, so yeah, just GO!

You can't go wrong!

That said, yeah, make the best of it, whenever, and wherever, you can.

You never know ...

Just get out there!

Enjoy.
