You Got Me!
Yeah, sitting here typing, and looking at this image, yeah! I got nothing. Well, except that I "believe" it was taken in Europe (by the signs), but yeah ... That's all I got. I took it because, well, "it caught my eye". Period. That is what happens, ANYWHERE. Yeah, think about it. If something doesn't "catch my eye", how could I ever get a picture of it , ahh, like, ANYTHING? Right? That said, yeah, I did take this picture, so yeah, it must have, say it with me ... "Caught M

Just to Remind You ...
Yes, it does get cold here in North Carolina, but yeah, I need to keep reminding myself of this fact, because, yeah, I grew up in UP-STATE New York, you know, up across the lake from, ahh, Canada, so yeah, at one point in my life, yeah, I really KNEW cold, trust me. I used to make money as a kid, you know, "shovelling it" at our church ... Or, I believe I got paid, it's been so long now, I tend to "forgot" the important stuff! But yeah, as a kid, I'm sure I got paid! SOMETHIN

Niagara Falls
You know, living in Up-State New York from like, the 4th grade up through college (and the Marines!), yeah, I just had to get over to experience Niagara Falls, I mean, come on! I did actually go to college, you know, "n the vicinity" (kind of ...), so yeah, one day I "took the plunge (not literally!), and found myself over there to see what all "The Fuss" was about! The ART of the GINKGO!
Final Answer. Original Image See what I did there? Trust me, it's the "LITTLE THINGS" that make a BIG difference! First off, yes! SHALLOW DEPTH OF FIELD! You know, GET CLOSE, the longer the lens, the better, and yeah, A "SMALL NUMBER" for your APERTURE! You know, say, f1.4, f2.8, or f4 ... A "small number"! Focus on "Your Subject" (MY GINKGO LEAF), which should be "IN FRONT" of something else (other Ginkgo leaves!) to really get the most of of it, and then just fire away! GOT

The Honda Element
My FAVORITE type car, ahh, EVER. No question. I owned (leased) three of them, before actually BUYING my third one! Ahh, for over TWENTY years, until Honda stopped making them. I know? In fact, this one, "The Silver One" is still out and about! Yeah, I gave it to my nephew, like I gave my oldest nephew my old Nissan 350Z, and then my youngest nephew, yeah, the plan is to give him the HRV once it is time for me to get another car ... You know, like my uncle helped me out, back

Now, I'm going to sound like I know what I'm talking about here, but yeah, I "think", these are the baby's grandparents, but that is just me ... Hey! They were together, in India, in some village, and yeah, I stopped, and got some "Family Photos", while the man worked on a pair of shoes! Whatever the case may be, they were a "family" as far as I could tell ... Hey! it worked for me! I enjoyed their company! And yeah, I loved how the man used his toes as a way to "hold" that s

My Time in Cuba ...
CUBA Yeah, really. I boarded a ship in Florida, took a little cruise down to Key West, then ... Well, somewhere else, I can't remember, but yeah, then we headed to Havana, Cuba, for an overnight stay, I believe, I don't know, it's been awhile, but yeah, all I remember was that I got to get off the ship, and "hang out" in Havana, baby, and that was just fine with me! Wait! I remember something about having a certain number of hours before we had to get back on the ship, becaus

"NIGHT" Photography
My FAVORITE TIME to be out there, anywhere, WITH MY CAMERA! Oh! And TRIPOD, of course. Yeah, I like to BE THERE before the sun sets, find my "SPOT", set up my tripod, take a few "practice" shots, to see if I like the results, and then, yeah, just WAIT. But you know me! Yeah, I sneak in a few more images, just because, well, I can. I have even been know to, you know, "second guess" myself, ahh, many times over, until I, you know, GET MY SHOT! And then just WAIT ... Usually, wh

North Carolina Elk ...
My FAVORITE Elk shot, like EVER! Yeah! He was standing out in a well lit field ("Hard Light"!), over there in Cataloochee Valley, with the trees (that BLACK!) in the background! I just had to wait until the trees went into SHADOW! And then just, ahh, "lined them up" so that he was in front of the shadow (trees), and ... BAM! Just FIRED AWAY! And duh? MINUS, MINUS, MINUS! And yes, I checked the data! And get this ... Just, ahh, "MINUS". Yeah, that's it! "Just" MINUS ONE! You k

Yeah, really. That is Nicolas Cage, and yes, I was, ahh, like, right there, behind the camera as they were filming part of the movie, NEXT, out in Arizona, at Havasu Falls, And yes, I actually sat around and had lunch with, no, really ... Both Nicolas Cage and some actress named Jessica Biel, who I didn't really know much about ... Back then. I swear. I just knew she was, ahh, rather good looking! In fact, I was so close to the movie camera, I had to turn off my motordrive t

I Used to Ride Motorcycles ... A LOT!
1973: First cross-country motorcycle trip from NY to AZ, by way of Chicago. Oh, and yeah! Mexico! I was eighteen. 1975: Down at my mom's in Florida, while on my "Around the Border of the United States Tour". I was twenty. 1979: Down in Florida again, at my mom's, once I got out of the Marines in March. Ahh, there was still snow up in New York! I waited ... I was twenty four. Ahh, and yeah, I bought the bike in Japan, had it, "rebuilt", and then had it "shipped back" to Norfol

Old School. Literally.
Two of the earliest images I ever took ... And yes, I was an 8th grader, and track manager, and actually took my mother's old Polaroid "Swinger" camera with me that day, to take some images ... And yes! These were taken at our, ahh, "OLD SCHOOL"! My sister's class (1969), was the LAST class to graduate from this school, and MY class (1973), was the FIRST one to complete all four years in the "NEW" school, you know, that sits just "outside" the town limits! Cool. It was 1968 ,

One of my first images, like EVER ... And yes, I was in 8th grade, ahh, back in like 1968. Really, both feet off the ground! Just like that "famous" horse racing photo, that I studied in Grad School! I know! If I see a military cemetery, anywhere, I STOP. Remember, I lived right outside Washington, DC, at Fort Belvoir, VA, you know, as a kid ... My younger sister was born there! Served in the United States Marine Corps, and yeah, was a civilian photographer, working for the D

My second trip down there, came later, in 2017, AFTER I retired, but after having watched all those Art Wolfe Photography DVDs the last couple years at the college, I just knew I had to get down there one more time, you know, to experience The Falkland Islands and ... Wait for it (I did)! SOUTH GEORGIA ISLAND! Oh yeah, that simple, and that easy of a decision, after watching those DVD programs over, and over, and over again! You know, over those last ten years! And yes, SOUT

The Ian Dudley Trail, with THAT HILL!
Well, that is what we called it anyways! Yeah, Ian, the oldest son of our School Media Center Coordinator, or you know, our School Librarian, Keith Dudley, who just so happened to live on the same street that had a "Gate Entrance", just down the road from their house, and yeah! He was how I learned about the TRAIL that they have back by the "Tater Hole", or you know, Lake Hickory! Yeah, DUKE POWER helped "make it" when putting in those Power Line things to hold up those cable

My Three Photography Rules
LOOK AT THE LIGHT. Get up early and stay out late! That simple (I wish!). Is it HARD light (dark shadows) or SOFT light (no shadows)? Is it COOL LIGHT (like this one)? Ahh, you know, in the BLUE-ISH color spectrum, or WARM LIGHT? Like just the opposite looking, yeah, like in the YELLOW, ORANGE, or RED color spectrums? And yes! If you know me, you know I set my WHITE-BALANCE to CLOUDY, and just leave it there! Yeah, that gives all your images a slightly "warmer" looking feel t
