LUX
Really, that is what I labelled this image: LUX Period. Worked for me. I mean, I know where I was when I "PUSHED THE BUTTON", don't you? Now true, coming up with what year I took it ... Oh wait! I think I remember, I mean, I was only in the country, ahh, once, so it had to be 2009, you know, that year I went over to visit a Marine friend of mine that was in my Section over there in japan, ahh, "back in the day"! Yeah, from 1976-1978 ... Over in Atsugi, Japan. He arrived about

Art 261 and Art 262 at CCC&TI
Yeah, came across this driving home from Lenoir the other day ... What? On like 321A, or something, in what? Like Whitnel? Yeah, it's the inside of an old store that is just a "gutted out" hole in the wall right now ... I can't even remember what store it was back in the day ... This is what it looked like when I took it, you know, with my small "Glove Compartment" camera, that little, blue, CANON PowerShot SD1100 IS "Point-n-Shoot" camera that lives in my storage compartment

My FAVORITE! Ahh ... Bird.
The Osprey. I "got hooked on them", after I left my "Home Town" up in Pulaski, New York, where I grew up right next to The Salmon River for years ... I never knew. See, Osprey eat FISH, ahh, period! Come on! Take another look at those, ahh, "FISH HOOKS" they fly around with! I'm serious. And yes, they LOVE Salmon, so yeah, they have a nest just outside the town, setup by the Power Company, like, "near" their real Power Lines, but far enough away to keep them off their lines,

A Few More ... Enjoy.
A "Famous" House up in New York ... FDR's perhaps? Or was it Vanderbilt's? Yeah, I think one of them ... Been awhile. I just liked those "curved lines"! Oh! And that LIGHT! Nope! Got it (I think)! BOLDT Castle! Yeah, you know, the guy that managed The Waldorf-Astoria Hotel there in New York City! Yeah, taken while on a Hudson River Cruise trip with my Uncle John, ahh, back in the day! Really. They used to live up there back in the day as kids ... Down at the Southern Tip of S

My FAVORITE!
No question. I was in Moknine, Tunisia (North Africa) back in1989, and was exploring this town that was famous for it's pottery, while shooting for an airline magazine back in the day ... And yeah, I was having a riot walking around, and around, those little "tunnels" that made up this crazy, little town, or village ... Lots of pottery work spaces everywhere! You know, kilns, smoke, and those little "walkways" in between all those walls and buildings, like a wild maze! Around

Night Time, Game Time!
Ahh, I mean, FUN TIME, GAME TIME! I know! Taken with my , ahh, "PHONE" thingy ... Really! Yeah, like just last Friday night (28 Aug)! Go figure. I left my camera in my raincoat, which I didn't think I would need ... I didn't, but duh? So, all I had was ... You guessed it! My trusty, old, Apple 13 phone thingy. And yeah, it worked for me! I didn't even want to take my, you know, REAL camera, my old, Nikon D7200, or even my newer Nikon D500 ... No, that would be "too much", you

Blackwell, PA ...
Yeah, I came across these images the other day, ahh, been awhile ... I used to enjoy just sitting in that "creek", and enjoying the summer. A very, ahh, quiet. peaceful, place to spend some time, ahh, "back in the day"! A lifetime ago. Yes, see, I was married once, and yes, her grandparents lived in the middle house with the yellow garage. That was our old, Dodge Dakota, ahh, next to her grandparent's car, there in the driveway. Glad I came across such a place ... Good luck

Black "Backdrops" via EXPOSURE!
Mrs. Bryant's Science classroom at GFMS, with the lights on, and one student holding the FLASH off to the side! MINUS, MINUS, MINUS! Hey! They were LEARNING, right? Something! Hey, it's SCIENCE! And MATH, all in one. I did what I could, where I could, and when I could ... They LOVED it! And so did Mrs. Bryant, and I! We loved our jobs! One morning, while walking along a waterway, down there in The Everglades (my "other classroom"!), I waited for that bank on the other side o

Morganton Brick Art Magic!
Brick Art at it's BEST! Let me check ... Got it! I mean, come on, I KNOW it's in Morganton, at some "Food Store", ahh, just down the street from where I always STOP to photograph "my other" FAVORITE Brick Art (Moses!), which is right downtown, but yeah, the name of the store this one is located on, slips my mind at the moment, or, yeah, like, FOREVER! Been there many times, even have walked into the place before, but yeah, it's not a "Well Known, Brand Name Store", well, to m

Dogwood Blossom Special ...
Shot right here, out in my, what some people might refer to as a "Front Yard", but yeah, it's really just the grass between two apartment building's Parking Lots, which yeah, is "kind of like a "FRONY YARD", in this case. Whatever. Works for me! And THIS DOGWOOD flower thingy! That is what really matters, right? Right. THAT LIGHT! And, yeah, that SHADOW I placed it in front of! You know, to "get that BLACK background"! And that's all I'll say about THAT! Just get out there, a

One-a-Day ...
Enjoy. You know I did, while out there taking these over the (many!) years! PLAY, PLAY, PLAY! I started back in what would have been, ahh, MIDDLE SCHOOL. But I got my first camera when I was 18, and halfway through my first cross-country motorcycle trip. Your turn! Just GET OUT THERE with a camera of some sort! You can't go wrong! Well, unless you don't get out there, that is! Or into a studio. Or on your computer. Good luck with all that! Just remember, there is no ONE WAY t

Finding My "Hometown" ...
I lived near, and experienced Mt. Fuji, when I lived in Japan ... I could see it from our Base. I have even been to the top of it twice. Once on my "little" Honda 125cc Trails Bike (really!) as far as I could drive it, the Marines had a tank, "practice area" (or whatever), on the "back side", and then, I just walked up the rest of the way, and another time, yeah, I just drove up to the top on "the other side" like a regular, you know, tourist! Duh? Took my college photograph

Dancin' KOLORS!
India. Yeah, pretty sure, can't remember which city, but yeah, take your pick! New Delhi comes to my mind, but yeah, I'll just leave it at that. Works for me. But, if you know me, and my work, yeah, you know what I tend to do, you know, AFTER "getting MY SHOT", yeah, I start "playing", looking for another shot, right then, and there! PLAY, PLAY, PLAY! Been doing it for YEARS! And plan on doing it as long as I can still get out there, and hold a camera! Or secure it to a tripo

"FRAMING"
Hey, I was right there, no need to go buy a frame, I just looked around me, and found one, ahh, easy. LIGHT and DARK, BLACK and WHITE, with a little BROWN thrown in there for good measure, it was all RIGHT THERE, in front of my camera, and me! All I had to do was, you know, PUSH THE BUTTON, ahh, a few times ... SHOOT, ADJUST, SHOOT, ADJUST, SHOOT, SHOOT, SHOOT ... Come on! Look at this! WHITE and ahh, BLACK, and BROWN ... How WHITE did I want my white? How BLACK could I go, y

TWO WILD, INDIAN, TIGERS ...
I still feel "the chill", that I felt when I saw those eyes looking right back at me! I was in a car, a LONG, LONG ways away! These "young cubs" (that's what we were told!) were 'Playing around this tree" while their mother was out hunting! Yeah, these were taken in Ranthambhore National Park, which was the old, "Tiger Hunting" place for the Rich and Famous of the British Empire, you know, back in the day! They were NOT "cubs" as far as I was concerned, but again, I'm no expe

The American, Ahh ... "Flag"!
HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY! Turned out I taught College ART 261, and ART 262, for Twenty-five years at the local Community College, right here in my "Home Town", of Hudson, North Carolina! And grew up on Army bases as a young boy, then served as a Marine in my mid-twenties, then worked as a civilian photographer for the Army, for three years over in Germany, and then volunteered as a photographer for several Public Affair Offices on the Army bases where my then wife was stationed f

You know, this reminds me that, no, I haven't been down to the Everglades in awhile ... Not this PAST winter, anyways! Something about "Falling Down" and going BOOM! But maybe this will remind me that yes! I hope to get down there NEXT winter, you know, like I used to, ahh, "Back in the Day"! Yeah, while teaching, yeah, I used to drive down EVERY year, you know, over Christmas Break, stay at the "Last Campground", usually in the very same "SPOT", and take a little hike everyd

My "FAVORITE" Shot of the day! Yeah, a wild tiger, ahh, over in India! Unreal. Shot in my driveway ... Remember, you have to think about just the MOON, which is lit by the sun, so yeah, EXPOSE for the SUN! NOT all that BLACK around it! Really! Try f16 at 1/500th of a second with ISO 400. What I Used to Do With Cameras...
Got my first camera while on my FIRST cross-country motorcycle tour the Summer of 1973. NOT on this tour! This I took, of another tour member, while shooting for MOTORCYCLE TOUR & TRAVEL in Norway. I was riding on another bike as we passed this rider, sitting backwards, with camera on hand ... Years later ... After many, many, miles driving around the world with a camera, or two ...
