Art 261 and Art 262 at CCC&TI

Yeah, came across this driving home from Lenoir the other day ... What? On like 321A, or something, in what? Like Whitnel? Yeah, it's the inside of an old store that is just a "gutted out" hole in the wall right now ... I can't even remember what store it was back in the day ...

This is what it looked like when I took it, you know, with my small "Glove Compartment" camera, that little, blue, CANON PowerShot SD1100 IS "Point-n-Shoot" camera that lives in my storage compartment between my seats, like, all the time! You know, the SMALL camera with the LARGE name!

I never leave home without it!

Did I mention it is very SMALL? Yeah, the size of my credit card, but yeah, just not as thin! Just image a really THICK credit card, and yeah ... That is how "big" the really small camera actually is!

CRAZY.

And no, I really can't remember when, or where I got it (Adorama no doubt!), but yeah, it's been awhile! Ten years at least, something like that, ahh, I think.

Doesn't matter, but yeah, I leave it in the "storage bin" thing in my Honda HRV, you know, so I ALWAYS have a camera handy in case I drive past these old, hollowed out buildings, and want to take pictures, while driving past whatever store used to be there ...

You never know.

Speaking of which, did you see what I did here?

TWO images of the same subject, but yeah, DIFFERENT. Here, I'll put them closer together so you can see what changes I made a little easier ... It's NOT a, you know, TEST, so don't worry!

No pressure ...

"FIXED" Version (on ADOBE PhotoShop ELEMENTS, or whatever it is called now!).

And yes! You can probably guess what got me started "CLEANING UP" the image!

Yeah! And you know me ... Once I cleaned up those, ahh, whatever they were (those White and Blue "strip" things), yeah, I just kept on going ...

But I wanted to keep "some of the "stuff", it is after all, an emptied out, old, store of some kind, so yeah ... Tried to keep it "REAL"!

Yeah, in WHITNEL, I'm pretty sure, but yeah, you know, that "area" between Lenoir and Hudson ... On 321A.

Hey! I was driving around, saw "SOMETHING". Stopped, got out of my car, walked into this emptied out remains of a building, and took some pictures of the COLORS remaining on the walls ...

They caught my attention.

Hey! I taught photography, or, "ART" 261 and 262, at Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute, like right here in Hudson, which yeah, is "just down the street", from where I took these images, of THIS wall.

What can I say? I'm RETIRED, not DEAD!

I "had to stop".

And get my images ... Which I narrowed down to just this ONE, which yeah, actually turned into TWO images, just to show you how I "work" at crafting my FINAL IMAGE, you know, just like your English teacher made you do on your papers you turned in on any one subject!

Again, that whole "over, and over, and over again" thing I talk/write about all the time!

"WORK" at becoming a better artist, simple as that!

Now, you get out there, and see what YOU can come up with!

WORK, WORK, WORK!

Oh! And try not to giggle until you are through ...

Keeps your camera steadier, and your images SHARPER!
