"Extreme Cold Watch"

No, not "down there" in Antarctica, where I captured THIS image (it's actually SUMMER down there now! Cold maybe, but not that EXTREME, I hope!), but right here in North Carolina, you know, where I live!

Yeah, like, TODAY, right now!

SEVERE WEATHER WARNING!

Yeah, today, as I'm writing this ... Like, RIGHT NOW!

It's 27 degrees, with a HIGH of 35 degrees, this afternoon, but the REAL cold sets in later on today, and tomorrow! Yeah, the HIGH tomorrow will only be, ahh, 26 degrees,

They are just letting us know so we will be ready.

Nice of them.

That said, yeah, where I grew up, and the reason I'm "down here" now, is that yeah! The HIGH today ... NINE (9). Yeah, really!

And with a low of, ahh, MINUS six (-6).

Yeah, I have both places "right on my phone", just to remind myself why I live where I live.

Like I told you before, many times, yeah, I SHOVELED SNOW as a kid growing up ...With a real snow shovel, no "snow-blower" for me ... I saved my money for, of all things, yeah ... MOTORCYCLES!

What can I say?

I was YOUNG.

But yeah, it WORKED FOR ME.

Now, of course, I live down South, where I don't SHOVEL snow, and yet, I haven't had a motorcycle in over TWENTY years either!

Weird, how all that, you know, turned out!

Don't ask.

But you know ...

"THINGS" Happen.

CRAZY.

But, just like when I was actually teaching, yeah, I just giggle when I hear that school is cancelled, BEFORE we even see ONE, "little white flake", like ANYWHERE!

COLD weather, yeah ... But real SNOW?

Maybe next week ... Yeah, I just checked ... I see a "SNOWFLAKE" on both NEXT Friday AND Saturday on my "phone"!

We shall see ...

There is ALWAYS hope, that we might actually, you know, have "the grass covered" after that!

Maybe.

I'm RETIRED, so yeah, I don't get as excited as I use to, let's put it that way!

But "The Kid" in me, oh yeah! I'm looking forward to it!

I mean, I WALK every day, you know, so I'll be ready for my little walks up to FAMILY DOLLAR, in order to buy my "SUPPLIES"!

FOOD LION is a wee-bit too far to walk, and, ahh, on the "other side" of 321!

Oh yeah, but I'm ready!

I "stocked up" this past week, for what? Like, LESS than an INCH of snow! It didn't even "cover the grass"!

Like, the MOST we have ever had down here in the past THIRTY something years I've been here, is what? Like three inches! MAYBE four, that one time!

I can't remember, it was like a "DREAM"! I think I even remember taking my RULER out into the Parking Lot that time!

Like I said, MAYBE four inches.

MAYBE.

Rumor is, that yeah, we MIGHT get that much, or, at least THREE inches, once again ...

MAYBE.

And yeah, that's what they ALWAYS say!

They "tease us", I mean, the students, that is!

We'll see.

MAYBE.

Like I said, I've lived "down here" for over THIRTY years ...

I'll wait and see.

Oh yeah ...

No. Let me say it again, this was NOT taken in Caldwell County, like, anywhere, not even up in the most Northern Corner, near Grandfather Mountain!

Not even close.

I just picked this one to, you know, say that yeah, we have a SEVERE WEATHER alert, that's all ... You know, add a little "juice" to the funny news reports my phone gives me.

Just saying.

But yeah, I will wear my sweatpants, and "HOODIE", today when I go for my little walk, you know, just because I can ...

But yeah, it was kinda chilly down there in Antarctica, the day I took this, during THEIR, ahh, "SUMMER"!

Yeah, really.

While on my, ahh, CHRISTMAS BREAK (their SUMMER!) back in 2011, you know, the first time I made it down there!

So, yeah, remember, the actual word, "WINTER", is a "relative" word.

Remember that!

Yeah, again, I just checked ... The "FEELS LIKE" temperature right now, up in PULASKI, NY is, ahh ... -11 degrees!

That said, the actual temperature is, ahh, a "balmy" 2 DEGREES up there!

And get this, we BOTH have a "SEVERE WEATHER ADVISORY" warning for the day!

Ha! Makes me giggle.

Anywho ...

Get OUT THERE, and make it a GOOD ONE!

*** Snow update: Yes! We got some!

And it's still coming down! In fact they say we have 5 to 8 inches of snow in the forecast!

THAT would be BIG TIME!
