Swimming with Stingrays ... Really.

And yeah, it's one of, if not THE best place, to find yourself swimming among the Stingrays!

You know, if you happen to have a waterproof camera handy with you at the time, that is!

Or not.

I know it was for me!

Once I heard about it (can't remember where, or when), but yeah, I KNEW I was going to find myself "down there" one day, no question.

I mean, come on!

I actually owned a waterproof camera, what more did I need?

Well, for this trip, I actually purchased a "REAL" waterproof housing thing for my "BIG" Nikon cameras! Yeah, it's made by EWA-MARINE, and with a name like that, yeah, it was just PERFECT for me!

Like, think of it as a really THICK "sandwich bag thingy", you know, big enough for your DSLR camera, with a short, zoom lens attached, and yeah, THAT is about it!

And yes! Trust me, it took a little "Before Time" prior to the actual trip to get used to it! It felt "STRANGE", you know, taking a Nikon DSLR camera, with a short zoom lens attached to it, you know, UNDERWATER, and not freakin' out big time!

I mean, I had used my smaller, water-proof, cameras for years, you know, while snorkeling, but yeah, one of my BIGGER, HEAVIER, SLR cameras?

Felt strange.

But I got used to it, and yeah, then, NO WORRIES!

I had a blast!

Did I mention STINGRAYS?

With those rather LARGE, "BARB THINGS" on their tails?

Yeah, here! Take another "peek" ...

Yeah, that "pointy" thing, on top of that "thick part" of the tail ... See it?

A little CLOSER here ... Right on top, and sticking up!

And yeah, this stingray, you know, came in "kind of close" ... See, people were feeding them squid, I think it was ... Oh yeah, it's a "BIG DILL" down off Grand Cayman Island! And yes, as you can see, I wasn't the only TOURIST out there kicking up sand at the time!

LOTS of boats right around this one SHALLOW sandbar, which was out away from the island!

Oh yeah, it was CRAZY!

I had a riot!

Can't remember how long we were actually, you know, allowed to stay out there, but yeah, it was "long enough", and pretty nice!

And "run like clockwork"!

And yes, there are plenty of, ahh, you know, "HELPERS" out there making sure everything goes smoothly ... I mean, there was something about bringing one right up to you, and let them, you know, give you a big, "Hickey" thing on your belly, or something, but yeah, I didn't volunteer for that one!

I was more into getting pictures!

Hey! BIG TOURIST spot, but yeah, there were a lot of STINGRAYS, and yeah, some of them were pretty good sized too!

Oh yeah, it was GREAT!

Just swimming around ... They were used to all the MADNESS!

Thank goodness.

And yeah, if I remember correctly, this was right after that "TV Guy" (Got it! Steve Irwin), you know, from Australia, and had that TV show ... And had just been killed by a stingray ... Oh yeah, trust me, that's all I thought about the whole time out there!

Or in reality, yeah, like what?

An hour? If even that long! But yeah, it was kind of wild, trust me!

Oh yeah ...

But yeah, we all had a GOOD TIME, I mean, there were like, a DOZEN or so boats out there, all spread out, and yeah, nobody got hurt!

I mean, it goes on, like, ALL THE TIME!

And yeah, it's a BIG AREA!

That said, yeah, I'm pretty sure there are RULES that must be followed to PROTECT all involved, both animals, and people! In fact, I KNOW there are!

It is all part of "THE PROGRAM"!

Down in the Cayman Islands, you know, down in THE GRAND CAYMAN ISLANDS ... In the Caribbean Sea ... Or, you know, something like that!

LOTS of C's and B's in there, that is for sure!

But yeah! Go for it!

It will all make sense once you get down there ...

And, you know, with all those STINGRAYS just "flying" around down there, or so it seems!

Like, all over the place!

You know, once all the ships, and food, arrive!
